Safeguard Information System (SIS): In 2016, Chad preliminarily identified and assessed potential risks and benefits associated with the country’s strategic options for REDD+ on the basis of a national multi-stakeholder and cross-sectoral workshop, to develop an understanding of REDD+ safeguards in the national context. UN-REDD Programme support also continued up to the development of a roadmap for achieving its safeguards requirements for REDD+ under the UNFCCC and FCPF, as well as an analysis of the legal framework for gaps and inconsistencies associated with the task of addressing the REDD+ safeguards.
