From REDD+ Readiness to Article 6 Implementation
Date: 19 November 2026
Time: 11:30–13:00 (GMT+3)
Venue: COP31 Blue Zone
As countries advance from REDD+ readiness towards implementation, Article 6 of the Paris Agreement presents new opportunities to mobilise carbon finance, strengthen international cooperation and scale up forest-based climate action.
Building on years of investment in national REDD+ strategies, forest monitoring systems, safeguards and institutional capacities, countries are increasingly exploring how these foundations can support participation in international carbon markets and the transfer of internationally recognised mitigation outcomes.
This session will examine the transition from REDD+ readiness to Article 6 implementation, highlighting country experiences, emerging opportunities and practical considerations for strengthening institutional arrangements, ensuring environmental integrity and accessing carbon market finance.
Discussions will explore how countries can leverage existing REDD+ infrastructure and experience to unlock new financing opportunities while maintaining robust safeguards, transparency and accountability.
Join country representatives, policymakers and technical experts to explore pathways for connecting REDD+ achievements with Article 6 cooperation and accelerating investment in forest-based climate solutions.
Join us at the COP31 Blue Zone on 19 November.
