The Last Mile to Issuance: Unlocking Jurisdictional REDD+ (JREDD+) Finance at Scale
Date: November 14th 17:00-18:30 GMT+3
Location: UNDP Pavilion, Blue Zone
Host: UN-REDD Programme
Countries have generated substantial experience with jurisdictional REDD+ yet have experienced significant barriers delaying credit issuance and access to finance.
This event will examine the "last mile to issuance" challenges facing jurisdictional REDD+ programmes, including conformance with market standards for J-REDD+, validation and verification bottlenecks, complex ERPA negotiations, and challenges associated with establishing domestic financial intermediaries. Drawing on practical country experiences and donor perspectives, the session will explore how to leverage an increasingly diverse results-based finance landscape to lead to faster, more predictable and scalable finance flows.
The event will bring together forest countries, donors, Indigenous Peoples, local communities, civil society and technical partners to identify priority actions needed to streamline jurisdictional REDD+ processes while maintaining environmental integrity and social equity. Participants will discuss how UN-REDD and partner initiatives can help address systemic bottlenecks and support accelerated issuance of jurisdictional REDD+ credits ahead of 2030.
