About

This event is organised by UNEP in collaboration with Sylvera. It is the sixth in a series of gatherings that began at London Climate Action Week 2025 and has since travelled through Johannesburg, Seoul, Singapore and back to London — each one built around the same core proposition: bring credible supply and committed capital into the same room and push toward transactions.

As the conversations and the countries involved have matured, CMAS 2026 turns to the questions now driving — and stalling — those transactions: When does supply reach scale? What closes the gap between indicative interest and a signed term sheet? Who carries the risk while systems are still being built out? Six speakers, three jurisdictions, three sources of capital, each get ten minutes to make their case directly, TED-talk style. The panel that follows is a genuine conversation between people who have just heard each other's pitches.

Agenda

Opening

15:30 – 15:35

(5 min)

Daniel Fisher, Carbon Markets Specialist, UNEP — State of the Market: a 5-minute view from 40,000 feet

A deliberately short, data-forward scene-setter. Two charts, no more: where jurisdictional REDD+, Article 6 and CORSIA demand genuinely stand today, and what's changed since London 2025 → Johannesburg → Seoul → Singapore.

15:35-15:45

(10 min)

Carmen Alvarez, International Policy Lead, Sylvera - The Carbon Calendar Overview

A clear outline of how carbon markets - for years described by its future potential - now have entered a clear calendar for growth. Compliance market obligations, Article 6 targets, voluntary commitments, and national reporting requirements all now mean that market activity needs to pick up pace.  Sylvera’s data insights will equally provide an Africa-focused overview of how carbon markets have progressed in recent years, ensuring the afternoon’s discussions are framed by the progress made and gaps remaining for high impact climate finance.

15:55 – 16:05 (10 min)

Sofia Cornejo Reindl, Global Carbon Markets, GIZ, Germany

16:25 – 16:35 (10 min)

Panel discussion moderated by Charlie Pool, Head of Carbon Advisory, Howden

16:35 – 17:05 (30 min)

Panel discussion — From pitch to term sheet

All speakers return to the stage together. The moderator pushes directly on where supply and demand actually meet: pricing, timelines, what each side needs from the other to move from conversation to contract in the next 12 months.

Structured as a moderated conversation with open floor for the last 10 minutes.

Closing

17:05 –17:10 (5 min)
