UNDP is working closely with government partner, the Climate Change and Development Authority (CCDA) to look at reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, also known as REDD+. Deforestation increases greenhouse gas emissions thus contributing to climate change. How do we promote conservation and sustainable management of forests? Can the introduction of incentives help promote this cause?Despite the current global COVID-19 pandemic, CCDA with support of the UNDP’s Forest Carbon Partnership Facility’s REDD+ Project, held an online certification course on “REDD+ Safeguards Database Reporting System. Over 30 representatives from the government, civil society and private sector organisations benefited from this training and strengthened their knowledge on how to use the digital platform to protect the social and environmental safeguards.
