Definition

The process by which one plants trees to increase the population density of existing tree species or increase tree species richness by adding tree species to a degraded forest.

The planting of desired tree species in a modified natural forest or secondary forest or woodland with the objective of creating a high forest dominated by desirable (i.e. local and/or high-value) species.
