Basket of Gases

Definition

The six greenhouse gases listed in Annex A of the Kyoto Protocol, together constituting a "basket" in which Kyoto commitments are denominated. They are: carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs), and sulphur hexafluoride (SF6).
