This module from the REDD+ Academy Course Fundamentals on REDD+ is designed for participants to understand the purpose and the importance of quality REDD+  NS/AP design processes and NS/AP documents to implement REDD+ activities successfully and ensure results. It also highlights various elements that countries may find useful to take into consideration to achieve this. The module includes explanations about:  National Strategies/Actions Plans and the UNFCCC Developing National Strategies/Action Plans Cross-cutting issues throughout the National Strategies/Action Plans development process.

It follows on from the module on drivers of deforestation and forest degradation and is closely related to the next module on National Strategies/Action Plans. It includes explanations about: What is meant by REDD+ and how it is been negotiated at the global level. The importance of REDD+ implementation and challenges faced at the national level International initiatives to support REDD+ implementation at the national level 

This module of Fundamentals of REDD+ shows evidence that the climate is changing and shows a clear link with human activity. It then presents the role of forests in relation to climate regulation. 

Spatial Analysis: A Tool for Integrated Land Use Planning for REDD+ This brief brings together country experiences to identify the critical success factors in the development of spatial analyses to inform REDD+ implementation, and their uptake into national REDD+ strategy and implementation plans. It aims to provide information and lessons learned to those countries that are still preparing their national REDD+ strategies or action plans (NS/APs), as well as to those who have already approved a NS/AP and that are now in the process of developing investment or implementation plans for specific REDD+ jurisdictions, policies or measures.
