The UN-REDD Programme supports National Programmes to support the full and effective participation of indigenous peoples and other forest-dependent communities in the design and implementation of REDD+ activities. A network of regional and country-level UN-REDD Programme staff provide technical support directly to countries on issues of stakeholder engagement, such as:
- The development of national REDD+ stakeholder consultation strategies;
- The development of or support to national REDD+ decision-making and advisory bodies with broad stakeholder representation;
- National REDD+ strategy validation processes;
- Pilot activities, such as processes to support the application of free, prior and informed consent
