New Publication: REDD+ and the 2020 Aichi Biodiversity Targets

‘REDD+ and the 2020 Aichi Biodiversity Targets: Promoting Synergies in International Forest Conservation Efforts’ is the UN-REDD Programme’s fifth Policy Brief.

The Policy Brief explores how REDD+ actions and the achievement of the Convention on Biological Diversity’s Aichi Biodiversity Targets can complement one another. Action for REDD+ can help to achieve the Aichi Biodiversity Targets, and vice versa, in many but not all cases. The report considers five Aichi Biodiversity Targets and their potential synergies with REDD+ planning and implementation. It concludes with some options that may be useful for REDD+ and NBSAP decision makers to consider to enhance synergies. The Policy Brief is illustrated with examples from the Philippines and Tanzania.

Download the Policy Brief in English. French and Spanish versions are forthcoming.
