Gender Sensitive REDD+: How To Do It?

UN-REDD aims to support countries on gender sensitive REDD+ processes by developing a Guidance Note on Guidance Sensitive REDD+.

During the pre-Policy Board meeting held in Lombok, Indonesia on 25 June 2013, the UN-REDD Programme organized a ‘knowledge sharing and information session on gender.’ Participants included government officials, donors, staff from UN agencies as well as representatives from civil society and indigenous peoples. Participants shared experiences regarding the relevance of gender in REDD+ processes, challenges and the means of addressing issues related to gender sensitive REDD+ processes.

A discussion forum on the UN-REDD workspace has been established in order to provide an opportunity to continue these discussions. The forum also allows informal sharing of knowledge and experiences, collection of case studies and lessons learned. The UN-REDD Programme will draw from the discussions and suggestions from stakeholders and incorporate country-level good practices and lessons learned shared into the future Guidance Note on Gender Sensitive REDD+.
