Two New Go-REDD+ Issues from UN-REDD in Asia-Pacific
The latest Go-REDD+ issues from the UN-REDD Programme Asia-Pacific listserv discuss REDD+ and FLEGT and the linkages of plantations and water in REDD+.
The Go-REDD+ issue entitled, “REDD+ and FLEGT: a Match Made in Brussels?” provides an overview and discusses the impact of new European Union regulations which have negotiated Voluntary Partnership Agreements through the European Union’s Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT). The article focuses on forest governance of timber exporting countries, and in particular on community-based timber producers and the implication for REDD+.
The Go-REDD+ issue entitled, “REDD+ and Plantations: What Does this Mean for Water?” provides an analysis of REDD+ and plantations and their link to water.
Go-REDD+ is a bi-monthly newsletter distributed by email and managed by the UN-REDD Programme team in Asia-Pacific. The main objective is to distribute information, synopses of research results and activities related to REDD+ in Asia-Pacific, to assist countries in their REDD+ readiness efforts.
