Thirteenth Policy Board Meeting

The thirteenth UN-REDD Programme Policy Board meeting will be held in Arusha, Tanzania on 3-7 November 2014. The itinerary for the meeting includes a field visit on 3 November, a joint knowledge sharing day with the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility on 4 November, a UN-REDD Programme Information Sharing Day on 5 November and the official Policy Board meeting on 6-7 November.

Panama’s REDD+ Active Listening Process Brings Diverse Stakeholders Together to Share Experiences and Perspectives

As part of Panama’s commitment to a multi-stakeholder participatory REDD+ process, Panama’s National Environmental Authority (ANAM), together with UN agencies of the UN-REDD Programme, carried out an active listening initiative to gather experiences, comments and perspectives from diverse REDD+ stakeholders including NGOs/academia, Afro-descendants, and campesino communities.

Celebrating the Launch of Community-Based REDD+

Over 100 people attended a reception on 15 May 2014 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York to celebrate the launch of Community-Based REDD+ (CBR+), a new partnership between the UN-REDD Programme and the UNDP-GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP), which was approved by the UN-REDD Programme Policy Board at the tenth Policy Board meeting in June 2013.

Latin American Allometric Equations Experiences Feature in Latest MRV Reports from UN-REDD Programme

In March 2013, the workshop Biomass Tree Allometric Equations for Central and South America was held in Costa Rica, bringing together 30 experts from 20 countries in Central and South America, to identify the gaps and needs in knowledge related to tree volume and biomass allometric equations.

Zambia Begins Development of its Forest Reference Emission Levels

Zambia has launched the process to develop its forest reference emissions levels/forest reference levels (FREL/FRL) with a three-day workshop in Lusaka, 2-4 April supported by the National UN-REDD Programme in Zambia. The development of Zambia’s FREL/FRL is part of the country’s efforts to build a national forest monitoring system.
