Drivers of deforestation, forest degradation and unsustainable management have many causes, and actions to address these must align with a country’s national circumstances and capacities. In such policy areas where actors depend upon one other, collaboration is needed to ensure that choices are made that bring about the best result for all of the actors. New indigenous peoples’ observer to the UN-REDD Programme Policy Board shares her experiences and results of self-selection process

A dynamic group of indigenous peoples (IP) and civil society organization (CSO) representatives has been self-selected to replace the out-going representatives, who recently completed their two-year terms. Decision-makers from developing countries can now access capacity development for REDD+ readiness and implementation through the UN-REDD Programme’s REDD+ Academy. La Coordination Nationale REDD à l’ouverture de la saison nationale de reboisement

Depuis 1996, la République du Congo a institué le 6 novembre de chaque année comme étant la journée de l’arbre. Cette journée ouvre ainsi annuellement la saison de plantation et de reboisement sur le territoire national. 2014 Global Landscape Forum highlights role of REDD+ in fighting climate change

The Global Landscape Forum (GLF) will be taking place the weekend of 6-7 December alongside the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change’s 20th Conference of the Parties (UNFCCC - COP20 in Lima, Peru. It will convene more than 1,500 participants to discuss landscapes approaches and their potential for both informing the future UNFCCC agreement and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Norad, the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation, has announced a call for proposals from civil society organizations working on climate and forest issues. The new grant scheme will run over a period of five years, starting 1 January 2016. Read full article…
