Implementing measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) systems for REDD+ will be the focus of a three-day workshop in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The UN-REDD programme along with the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) and the Mexican Forestry Commission (Comisión Nacional Forestal – CONAFOR) are organizing a workshop entitled “Measurement, reporting and verification, a roadmap for implementation at the country level” from 22 to 24 June 2010. UN-REDD Event at the Climate Change Talks in Bonn

More than 150 participants attended the UN-REDD Programme side event at the UNFCCC Climate Change Talks in Bonn, which focused on developments in MRV and monitoring of mitigation actions and safeguards for REDD+.

The UN-REDD Programme and its partners assist countries in establishing robust and transparent measuring, reporting and verification (MRV) and monitoring systems. The UN-REDD side event covered issues related to remote sensing applications, monitoring systems in the Congo Basin as well as monitoring governance safeguards for REDD+.

Global Experts Tackle Monitoring Governance Safeguards for REDD+

A two-day expert workshop paves the way for setting up a common understanding and framework on monitoring governance safeguards for REDD+.

(London, UK) Chatham House, an independent international affairs think-tank, the United Nations Collaborative Initiative on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation (UN-REDD Programme) and other leading forest governance experts met in London on 24-25 May to develop the basis for a coherent framework and guidance on monitoring governance for REDD+.
