FCPF, FIP and UN-REDD to host first joint meeting in Washington, D.C.

On 6 November 2010, the governing bodies of the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF), the Forest Investment Program (FIP) and the UN-REDD Programme will meet at the World Bank in Washington, D.C., USA, to discuss ways in which the three initiatives can continue to streamline support to REDD+ countries.

This will be the first joint meeting of the three initiatives, highlighting their commitment to ensuring enhanced REDD+ support to the 48 countries they collectively support. The joint meeting will explore ways to foster closer integration of the initiatives, including the establishment of a joint platform to share country experiences, disseminate lessons learned, and facilitate strategic discussions.

The governing bodies of the FCPF, FIP and UN-REDD Programme have called for a streamlined approach to support national REDD+ strategies and together with partners such as the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF), the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), they continue to respond to that call.

For more information on registration for the joint meeting, please contact: cifadminunit@worldbank.org or epormes@worldbank.org.

Together, the FCPF, FIP and UN-REDD Programme support REDD+ readiness and investment activities in 48 countries across Africa, Asia-Pacifi c and Latin America.
