UN-REDD Programme Secretariat

The UN-REDD Programme Secretariat is located in Geneva, Switzerland and it works as a compact interagency team. It serves the Policy Board and liaises with countries, other REDD initiatives and other partner institutions. It provides oversight for the implementation of the programme, using the capacities and expertise of FAO, UNDP and UNEP as the participating agencies.

The Secretariat seeks to ensure that strategies and operational guidance decided by the Policy Board are implemented and adhered to and that the UN-REDD Programme is implemented in a coordinated manner. The Secretariat manages the programme’s overall monitoring and evaluation, including the delivery of the support to National Programmes and activities of the Global Programmes.

Coordination, communication and knowledge management are at the heart of the Secretariat daily activities. It organizes information events, maintains the website and produces a monthly E-Newsletter that provide up-to-date information of the Programme and help dissemination of lessons learned on REDD activities.
